Covetrus® Compounding offers customized solutions to meet the individual needs of pets, while reducing the stress for both pets and pet parents. You can create digital prescriptions for these medications within vRxPro®.
To create a ProScript for a compounded medication:
- Click Create Rx from the left navigation menu or the tile on your homepage dashboard.
- Search for and select the patient you need to write the prescription for.
- Search for the product you need to prescribe.
On the product search screen, you will see a Dose Forms link next to compounded products. (This feature is not available for formularies with multiple active ingredients)
- Click the Dose Forms button to easily view all available dose forms for that primary active ingredient.
From the Compound Dose Forms slide-out:
- Use the filters to narrow to the strength range.
- Select the caret to view additional details including temperature sensitivity, shelf life, available quantities, flavor options, and pricing details.
Compounded medications are labeled as either Ready to Ship or Made to Order.

- Once you have determined the best dose form for the patient, click the corresponding Create Rx button to proceed to the script pad.
Note: Due to state specific regulations, not all dose forms are able to ship to all states. If a medication is not available in your state, a red alert will be displayed.

- Select your Reason for prescribing compound from the drop-down menu.
- Provide additional information in the Reason for Prescribing Compound: Additional Detail field. Click here for more information on GFI #256
- Complete filling out the prescription and click Authorize.
- Remember to select Recommend AutoShip for therapeutic medications.
