Sometimes clients will purchase a product in an incorrect dosage or quantity. Rather than declining the request, vRxPro® allows you to modify the strength or quantity to the correct amount and approve the request with changes.
Open the Request
To approve a Client Request with changes:
- Click the blue Rx button to open the Prescription Pad.
Authorize the Request
Update Product Details
- Make the necessary changes to the item’s Strength and/or Maximum Units per Fill.
- Choose the number of Refills to issue.
- Update the Expiration Date if necessary. (Note: This is the Expiration Date of the prescription, not the product.)
Add Directions & Notes
- Add Directions that you would like to appear on the prescription label. (Commonly used directions can be saved as SIG Shortcuts, click here to learn more)
- Add any special instructions for the pharmacist in Notes to Pharmacy.
Decline Initial Request & Issue New Prescription
Because you are making changes to the client’s original request, once the prescription has been authorized, the client will receive two emails:
- An email letting them know you have declined their initial request.
- An email with the updated prescription.
To avoid confusion, provide a detailed explanation as to why the changes were made.
- Select Reason for Decline from the drop-down.
- Add additional details in the Notes to Client field. These will appear in the email to the client. (Click here to learn more.)
- Select the Authorizing Veterinarian from the drop-down menu.
- Click Authorize to issue the prescription.
Note: Because the new prescription is not for the exact product the client initially authorized payment for, they will need to place a new order.
