Overview
This article explains how veterinary practices can offer practice-sponsored discounts in vRxPro®, including when to use them, where to find discount codes, how to apply them, and how these discounts appear in reporting.
There are many scenarios where a practice might want to discount an order outside of the regular promotion cycle, including but not limited to:
- Offering an employee discount
- Showing customer appreciation
- Appeasing an upset customer
- Adjusting pricing for clients on practice plans
Note: These discounts are funded by the practice and are thus at the sole discretion of the practice to use.
Where to Find the Discount Information
To locate practice-sponsored discount details in vRxPro:
- Select the blue question mark icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Click Marketing Center.
- Scroll down to Practice-Sponsored Discounts Now Available.
Discounts are available in increments of 5% up to 30% (for example, EMPLOYEE5, EMPLOYEE10, EMPLOYEE30) and can be combined and used multiple times per client or employee.
Important: To ensure these discounts remain within the practice’s discretion and control, the specific discount codes can only be accessed by a Practice Settings Admin.
Practice Settings Admins can then decide if and how they’d like to share these within their practice.
How to Apply a Practice-Sponsored Discount
To prevent unwanted usage, practice-sponsored discounts can only be applied during Help Client. Instructions on how to assist clients on the storefront via Help Client can be found here.
Once the client is open, add the products you would like to discount to their cart. Select Proceed to Checkout.
Within checkout, add the promo codes you would like to use then hit Apply to save. Codes can be combined to achieve a greater discount.
Notes on Coupon/Promo Code configuration:
- Multiple coupons can be combined to achieve the desired discount level, but the same coupon cannot be applied multiple times per order.
- The same coupon can be used on multiple orders for the same client.
- When enrolling on Autoship, the coupon will only apply to the initial order.
Reporting on Discounts
Practice-sponsored discounts will show up in all your reporting, within the promotion spend. Since they are practice-sponsored, you will see the amount deducted from your Client Costs but not reimbursed within your Practice Totals.
To calculate your total practice-funded spend, add the Covetrus and/or Manufacturer Funded promotional spend from your Practice Costs to your total Client Discounts.
For example, if clients received $1000 in promotions and Covetrus reimbursed $800, you would have given $200 of practice-sponsored discounts.
To identify an individual order with a practice-sponsored discount, look at the Promotion line of each order within your Transaction Detail Report. Items with a positive number in the $ Net column were practice-sponsored.
