Creating a ProScript in Avimark®

Avimark versions 21.10 and newer offers the capability to create vRxPro® ProScripts within Avimark. This integration streamlines workflows and saves staff time.

Launching the Integration

There are two ways to initiate a ProScript within Avimark:

1. Use the Rx Truck Button on the Speed Bar
2. Use the Drug Label

Using the Client Information Display (CID) Speed Bar Button

The Rx Truck Button can be found on the Client Information Display (CID) Speed Bar. 

From the patient’s record:

• Click the Rx Truck Button to begin.

• A login window will appear, enter your vRxPro login credentials and click Login.

Note: You must have a vRxPro User Account to utilize the integration.

Using the Drug Label

You can also initiate a prescription through vRxPro the same way you would print a label for an in-house prescription.

• First, create the prescription the same way you would create an in-house prescription within Avimark.
• Right-click on the prescribed product and select Drug Label.

• In the Drug label window, select Send to Covetrus Rx Management located under Fulfillment Options.
• Click Send.

• A login window will appear, enter your vRxPro login credentials and click Login.

Note: You must have a vRxPro User Account to utilize the integration.

Creating the Prescription

Once you have launched the integration, you can begin writing the prescription.

Link the Patient

If the patient’s Avimark and vRxPro accounts have not been linked, you will need to do so before proceeding.

• Use the search bar to locate the patient's vRxPro account.
• Select the correct account.

If the patient does not have a vRxPro account:

• Click Import As New.

• Select whether the patient is for a new client or an existing client.

Note: Importing a patient or client cannot be undone.

• Complete the fields in Missing Information and click Import and Link.

Note: This information will only be added to the client’s vRxPro account, not their Avimark account.

Select a Product

Once logged in, the Select a Product screen will appear, pre-populated with client and patient information.

• Search for the product you need to prescribe.
• By default, the filters will be selected to only show products appropriate for the patient’s species and weight. To view all products contained in the vRxPro catalog, deselect these filters.
• Click the information icon to view additional product details.
• Select the product to proceed. 

Write the ProScript

Once the patient’s account exists in both Avimark and vRxPro, you can create the prescription.

• The patient, client, and product details will be collapsed at the top of the window (click the carets to expand).
• Enter the number of packages the patient should receive in Units Per Fill.
• Add Refills and update the Expiration Date if appropriate.

• Add Directions and Notes the Client or Pharmacy if needed under Additional Details.
• Be sure to toggle on Recommend AutoShip if the product will be purchased more than once.
• Select the Authorizing Veterinarian.
• Click Authorize to issue the ProScript.
