When an existing vRxPro® prescription has been completely filled or is approaching expiration, it will appear under the ProScript Renewals feed 30 days before the patient is due for a replacement.
This aims to avoid any lapses in care due to scheduling by allowing time for you to contact the client and complete any necessary services before the patient is due for more product.
A prescription can become eligible for renewal for one of two reasons:
- Running out of product: The client purchased the full amount allotted by their prescription, and their supply is almost out.
- Prescription expiring: The client did not purchase the full amount and the prescription’s expiration date is approaching.
The system analyzes the following information to determine Renewals eligibility:
| Last Purchase + Days of Supply | If the client purchased the full amount prescribed, the system will look at their last order date and the estimated days of supply to determine when the patient will next be due for product. Note: depending on the expiration date set and the amount prescribed, this may come earlier than the expiration date. |
| Expiration Date | If the full amount prescribed was not purchased or the prior prescription was never filled, renewal generation will be based on the expiration date of the initial prescription. |
| Product Type | Renewals should reflect therapeutic or preventative medications where a patient would likely be receiving refills. Antibiotics, antifungals, or prescriptions written for 1 dose without refills are excluded. |
