- Fill out the prescription pad. (Click here to learn more about creating a ProScript)
- Select the Authorizing Veterinarian.
- Click Authorize to issue a new ProScript.
What if I am not ready to Authorize yet?
If you're not ready to act on a renewal when it first appears, you have two ways to hold or delay those renewals until a more appropriate time:
- Snooze the Renewal
- Update the Workflow Status
Snoozing the Renewal
The Alarm Clock icon allows you to snooze a renewal for 15, 30, or 60 days.
To Snooze a Renewal:
- Click the alarm clock icon.
- Select the number of days you would like to snooze the renewal for.
Once snoozed, the renewal will immediately disappear and reappear after the snooze period has passed. Once it reappears, it will remain in your queue for 60 days.
Utilizing Workflow Status & Notes
Internal Notes and Workflow Status help to track progress and keep colleagues informed. These statuses and notes are internal only; therefore, the client will not see the changes made.
Renewals with a workflow status of Exam Scheduled will remain in the feed until renewed, removed, snoozed, or the Workflow Status is changed.
Updating the Workflow Status
Workflow Statuses are an easy way to track the progress of a pending ProScript Renewal.
To update the Workflow Status:
- Select the Workflow Status from the drop-down menu on the Renewal.
Statuses include:
- Action Needed (default status for all pending ProScript Renewals)
- Exam Needed
- Under Review
- Client Contacted
- Exam Scheduled
- Final Review
These statuses allow you to inform colleagues when you are reviewing a prescription, as well as put requests “on hold” while necessary exams or services are completed.
Adding an Internal Note
Internal Notes provide additional context to the status of the renewal.
To add or edit an internal Note:
- Click the clipboard icon on the Renewal.
- Type your message into the Note field.
- Click the green checkmark to save your note.
Note: It is recommended to leave your initials and a date in your Note so that colleagues know who left the note and when it was last updated.
Example internal notes include:
- "Annual exam scheduled [DATE], can be approved then. [EMPLOYEE INITIALS]"
- "LVM w/ client [DATE], to schedule bloodwork. [EMPLOYEE INITIALS]"
- "Tech reviewed [DATE], pending vet auth. [EMPLOYEE INITIALS]"
- "Need to confirm weight before approving. [EMPLOYEE INITIALS]"
- "Spoke with client, waiting on scheduled exam. [EMPLOYEE INITIALS] [DATE]"
Removing the Renewal
If not acted upon, renewals will disappear from your list 60 days after they first appeared (30 days after they were expected to refill or expire). Renewals will also be removed if a ProScript is written, or a Client Request is created for the same client, patient, and product.
If a Renewal is no longer needed:
- Click the trash can icon to delete.
