Practices who use Pulse as their practice management software have access to an integration that allows them to prescribe through vRxPro, right from a patient's medical record.
To use the integration, the logged in Pulse user must have an account set up as a veterinarian or delegate in vRxPro.
NOTE: You must first set up the integration with Covetrus vRxPro. For help getting this set up, please reach out to your Covetrus Customer Success Manager.
Launching the Integration
To launch the integration, start by navigating to the patient's medical record.
Scroll down to the Quick Links section and click on the Quick Link named Create Rx. This will log the user in to the vRxPro integration using the current Pulse credentials.
NOTE: the position of the Quick Link is customizable by practice so the position may vary.
Creating a New Prescription
In order to easily prescribe for your patients across both your PIMS and vRxPro, you'll need to link your clients & patients. Linking their records between your PIMS and vRxPro ensures that both platforms are referring to the correct client & patient record for writebacks.
Once the patient is linked, Creating an Rx via the Pulse integration is fast and easy. See below for a walkthrough.
If the patient is not linked, that step will need to be completed first.
Using the Create Rx Pulse Integration
To begin, open the patient profile for the patient that you want to write a prescription for. Click the "Create Rx" button towards the bottom of the page in the Quick Links section (see above). If the pet is already linked, you will be prompted to Search for Product.
After opening the integration, you will be prompted to search for and select a product. Product search is automatically filtered by species and by pet weight.
If you want more information on a product, click the circle icon to view product details. To select a product, click anywhere on the product line. Be sure to confirm that you are selecting the desired product quantity!
Note that both the Patient and Products are minimized after you make your selections, but can be expanded to confirm all the information is accurate. Beneath those sections, the script pad will be displayed.
The next, and final, step is finalizing the prescription. Once you have completed the necessary fields, click Authorize to send the prescription.
When the prescription has been submitted, a page will appear showing the prescription submission was successful. If enabled, prescription recommendation details will be written back into the appropriate patient's medical history.
When the client purchases an order from the script, the details of the prescription order will be written back again in a separate entry into the patient's medical history.
